A working computer is a terrible thing to waste. Donating computers to those who need them is a win for all involved. Reusing computers benefits communities, helps use valuable materials wisely, and keeps working PCs out of the trash. Businesses who donate used computers are helping those who cannot afford the “latest and greatest” obtain access to what is now almost a necessity for business, education and staying in touch.
The BCED Digital Divide Initiative accepts computer donations from government agencies and businesses for redistribution on a case by case basis. Individuals may donate individual working computer systems that meet our minimum standards.
Computer systems must meet the following minimum standards and be in working order:
- Pentium 3 or newer
- 1.0 GHz processor
- 20 GB hard drive
- 256 MB RAM
- 15" flat screen or CRT monitor - 2001 or newer
All donations must be coordinated by calling (612) 624-8783.

The Foundation encourages corporations and individuals to donate their surplus and used computers, software, peripherals and related business technology wherever this equipment is located. With the help of our online donation process, we can help a pre-screened partner network of charities, schools and public agencies get these important tools to support activities in thousands of training or educational settings.
